National voter registration campaign- promoting youth participation in the voter registration process

From the 1st to the 9th April, 2021, the National Youth Parliament – The Gambia, Peace Ambassadors – The Gambia and National Youth Council – The Gambia, with funding from UN Peacebuilding through UNDP – The Gambia, embarked on a massive nationwide voter registration campaign, targeting Gambians who are qualified to participate in the electoral processes especially youth, women and persons living with disabilities encouraging them to register to vote.
Anchored on the main objective of promoting the inclusion and participation of young people, women and persons with disabilities in the voter registration process, the tour team employed myriads of communication channels to reach out to the targeted constituents. In total, the team visited over 80 communities across the seven regions and most of these communities are hard-to-reach. Meaning, these communities face huge challenges accessing timely information.
